My story isn’t any different than yours when it comes to loving and caring for your dog, but Mr. Bronson’s elbow issue changed my life. This is my story. It’s short, sweet, and direct.
MYDOGSWAG was designed all because of one German Shepherd, “Mr. Bronson. Having moved from New Hampshire to Florida his environment was very different. Lush grass and soft beds, they no longer were the case. To stay cool from the Florida heat, he only wanted to lay on the ceramic tile floors or the concrete patios. Anything to keep his belly cool.
The problem? Every time he laid down he would take a blow to the elbows. Mr. Bronson’s elbows ended up with an open wound, bleeding and becoming infected. The incessant licking caused matters to become worse. Yes, the dreaded trip to the Vet’s office. The veterinarian really had no solutions except to keep it covered. The question was how? And what products were available?
First, the internet: There were products out there, but not affordable to my wallet and they were too robotic. I didn’t need people asking me if something was wrong with Mr. Bronson, I just wanted his elbows to heal. Clearly the internet was not the answer.
I decided to experiment on Mr. Bronson (He was such a good sport!). I had Mr. Bronson taped up, wearing t-shirts, socks, anything to protect his elbows. I became so frustrated and his elbows were worse because nothing would stay on him. I had a serious challenge on my hands. That’s it, I will sew something to protect his elbow?
My sewing skills were not the greatest, but I designed a product that was comfortable, looked fun, and it stayed on him without sliding off. Within 2 weeks of 24/7 wearing the cuff, Bronson’s elbows were healing and the hair was now starting to grow back on his elbows.
Walla! I found a niche, elbow protection for large breed dogs! The K-9 Callus Cuff was born. The design has changed a lot since I first started and Mr. Bronson has since passed away. That being said, if it wasn’t for Mr. Bronson there would NO business called “MYDOGSWAG.” My boy made a difference!
I look forward to helping the “WOOF” in your life!
Sincerely,
Bonny
